Declare your discipline
Design, manufacturing, maintenance, HVAC, project or quality — say which in the first line of your personal statement. These are different jobs with different tooling, and a recruiter reading 'mechanical engineer with broad experience' cannot place you against their vacancy.
Tools and standards are hard filters
Name your CAD package and version-controlled PDM if relevant, your analysis tools, and the standards you have worked to — ISO 9001, ASME, BS EN, pressure equipment or machinery directives as applicable. Engineering recruiters filter on exactly these because retraining is expensive.
Chartership and institutions
If you are working toward CEng or IEng through IMechE, say where you are — accredited degree, IEng, CEng, or actively working toward with a mentor. Many UK employers value it explicitly and some senior roles require it. If it is not on your path, do not pad the CV with institution memberships you do not hold.
Give projects scale
Volume, unit cost, cycle time, tolerance class, budget and team size are what let a reader judge complexity. A part at 500 units a year and one at 500,000 demand very different engineering, and neither is obvious from the description alone.
